A 26-year-old woman who came to join the Home Guard recruitment campaign in Bihar's Gaya district has accused three personnel of gang-raping her in a moving ambulance after she fainted while being subjected to a physical fitness test. The incident is said to have occurred on July 24 at the grounds of the Bihar Military Police in Bodh Gaya.

The lady collapsed during the physical round of the selection process. Organizers of the event hurriedly arranged for an ambulance, which was already present on the premises, to take her to a hospital for treatment.

Allegations of Assault In Transit By Ambulance

Based on the police FIR, the woman said she was sexually assaulted by several men when she was being brought to the hospital in the ambulance. She was said to be semi-conscious at the time of the incident and subsequently reported the alleged assault to the police and hospital staff.

"Three or four men raped me in the ambulance when I was unconscious," she told in her complaint. The FIR was lodged at the Bodh Gaya police station immediately after.

Two Held by SIT

Acting quickly on the complaint, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up for the case arrested two people, Vinay Kumar, the driver of the ambulance, and Ajit Kumar, a technician who was onboard. They are both in custody and being interrogated.

Officials also confirmed that a forensic team is being utilized for the investigation. Footage of CCTV from around the area has been gathered for tracking the movement and timing of the ambulance.

Political Responses and Public Reaction

The episode has caused outrage, with Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MP Chirag Paswan criticizing Bihar's declining law-and-order situation. "What is the condition of policing in Bihar? How is a woman raped within an ambulance while under government supervision?" he asked in a press release.

The investigation continues, and more details are expected after forensic testing and intensive interrogation of the suspects.
