The Bihar assembly elections have brought Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician Seema Singh into the political spotlight as the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate from Marhaura constituency. The 42-year-old politician, who has been a prominent face in the Bhojpuri film industry, is now making waves in Bihar's political arena with her substantial public recognition and interesting background.
Seema Singh represents the growing trend of entertainment personalities transitioning into politics. The forty-two-year-old Bhojpuri actor has appeared in numerous well-known Bhojpuri films and songs as well. Voters in the Marhaura constituency are very interested in her involvement with Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Before joining politics full-time, she was known as the "item queen" of Bhojpuri cinema, having appeared in over 500 films and music videos since beginning her career around 2008.
According to her election affidavit, Seema Singh's educational qualification shows she passed the 9th grade in 1999 from The Ram Hegde Hindi High School in Thane, Maharashtra. Her spouse, Saurav Singh, who lives in the Nawada area of Bihar, is her personal partner. Her marriage to a Bihari has strengthened her ties to the state's political system and made her a relevant figure to voters in the area.
Seema Singh's financial disclosure reveals interesting details about her economic status. According to her affidavit, her total income as declared in the Income Tax Return for the assessment year 2025-26 as on March 31 was ₹5,48,011, and for the last assessment year it was ₹4,99,782. With combined assets of approximately ₹58 lakh shared with her husband, and individual assets worth ₹32 lakh each, she has made her financial details clear to the public.
Over her political career, Seema Singh rose through the ranks of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), where she was the youth wing's state general secretary. Her nomination from the Marhaura assembly constituency inside the NDA alliance marked a significant turning point in her political career. However, poll body officials questioned her nomination, casting doubt on her candidacy. The party has submitted a representation before the Election Commission, hoping to resolve what party president Chirag Paswan termed as a "small lapse" in the documentation process.

Seema Singh’s affidavit states that one criminal case against her is still under trial, with charges framed but no conviction so far. This is shared as part of the transparency norms for candidates to keep voters fully informed.
