Election Commission of India has declared that the first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will take place on November 6. This is the start of an important election fight in the state as political parties gear up to attract voters in 100+ seats of northern and central Bihar.
Bihar Election 2025: Major Points of Phase 1
Phase 1 of the Bihar elections will witness voting in 132 seats, including the high-profile districts of Madhepura, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Nalanda, and Patna.
The outcome of these seats would dictate the tone of the subsequent phases since they comprise a number of politically sensitive and caste-heterogeneous areas.

Bihar Election 2025: Key Constituencies Voting in the First Phase
Some of the high-profile constituencies voting on November 6 include:
- Madhepura, the political bastion that has long seen ferocious triangular battles.
- Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur, crucial urban hubs that tend to record high voting percentages.
- Gopalganj, Siwan, and Chapra, traditionally important for the big parties like RJD and BJP.
- Patna Sahib, Digha, Bankipur, and Danapur, that cover the state capital area and middle-class urban voter base.
- Nalanda and Rajgir, constituencies strongly identified with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s hold.
The phase also comprises a few Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved seats like Singheshwar, Sonbarsha, Bochahan, Sakra, Bhore, Garkha, Raja Pakar, Rosera, Alauli, and Phulwari, so that the representation is balanced across communities.

Political Implications of the First Round
The initial phase is critical for both NDA and the INDIA alliance because it encompasses constituencies that have historically decided Bihar elections. All major parties such as RJD, JD(U), BJP, Congress, and HAM have already started field-level campaigns, highlighting development, jobs, and law and order.
