Bihar Deputy CM Accuses Lalu Yadav of “Destroying” State

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday accused Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Yadav of “destroying” the state. His remarks responded to recent criticism by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who claimed that Bihar tops the charts in unemployment, poverty, inflation, corruption, and crime.

Choudhary criticized Yadav’s statements, asserting, “It was Lalu Prasad Yadav who destroyed Bihar. Nitish Kumar and the BJP have worked to improve the state’s situation. The negative reputation Bihar earned in the past is largely due to Lalu Yadav and his party.” He labeled the RJD as “looters and corrupt people.”

Tejashwi Yadav had earlier criticized the Bihar government, noting that despite the “double-engine government” (with NDA-led administrations at both the center and state), the state continues to struggle with significant socio-economic issues.

In response, Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor, a vocal critic of the Yadavs, advised Tejashwi Yadav to avoid commenting on development issues. Kishor questioned Yadav’s understanding of economic matters, stating, “It is laughable for Tejashwi Yadav to discuss Bihar’s development model when he does not even understand basic economic concepts like GDP.”

Kishor also highlighted what he perceived as Yadav’s inconsistent views on Bihar’s crime situation, noting, “When Tejashwi Yadav was Deputy Chief Minister six months ago, Bihar was like Switzerland to him. Now, it has become a ‘gutter’ in his view. If Nitish Kumar joins the Mahagathbandhan, Bihar will once again appear great to him.”

The exchange reflects ongoing political tensions and differing views on Bihar’s governance and development.
