Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Bharat Tex 2025 exhibition on Sunday, where he interacted with participants and received a briefing on various aspects of the event.
Bharat Tex is the textile industry’s largest and most comprehensive platform, featuring a mega expo across two venues that showcases the entire textile ecosystem, according to an official release. The event, taking place from February 14-17 at Bharat Mandapam, brings together the entire textile value chain, from raw materials to finished products, including accessories, under one roof.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address the gathering.
Bharat Tex 2025 has drawn participation from policymakers, global CEOs, and exhibitors, along with international buyers from over 120 countries. The event also features more than 25 leading global textile organizations and associations, including the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), EURATEX, Textile Exchange, and the US Fashion Industry Association (USFIA).
Earlier, the Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, under the Ministry of Textiles, organized a fashion event titled ‘Breathing Threads’, highlighting the timeless beauty of Indian handlooms in contemporary silhouettes.
The event, held at the amphitheater in Bharat Mandapam, was organized in collaboration with Vaishali S Couture, Vaishali S Threadstories Private Limited, Mumbai, and coordinated with the Handloom Export Promotion Council.
The show featured fabrics woven in villages from five states—West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Rajasthan. Twenty models presented 30 different looks, showcasing seven traditional weaving techniques: Chanderi, Maheshwari, Jamdani, Khun, Benarasi, Kota Doria, and Murshidabad. Each weave was creatively enhanced with unique textures and cording, adding to the artistry of the presentation.
