An exasperated Bengaluru software engineer has gone viral for his hard-hitting analysis of Bengaluru’s commuting woes after the blanket return-to-office orders. His ‘Bengaluru public transport + return to office = certified insanity’ post rings true as it brings to life the daily pandemonium confronted by those by public means of transport particularly on the notorious Outer Ring Road. Identifying himself as a ‘proud Bangalorean, born and brought up’, the techie chronicled the ordeal of commuting 25 km to work on buses, a decision he first took for its eco-friendliness and sense of responsibility. But what he thought would be an environment-friendly solution became what he referred to as ‘a test of endurance’.

“This is not commuting. This is survival,” he asserted, identifying with thousands who have similar agonies all over the city.

One of the incidents he shared was that he was being dropped near Nagawara Junction instead of any proper bus stop. When there is no footpath, no crossing, he had to cross multiple speeding vehicles to get to the other side to proceed towards the destination. While he was boarding another bus at a traffic signal, the conductor yelled, “This is not a stop! Go to the bus stop!”

“Bro. My colleague just dropped me in the middle of nowhere. What stop??” he responded in his post, labeling the experience as ‘real clownery’.

He also did not spare the BMTC staff when speaking about them, saying: “The driver appears to be five seconds away from resignation, and the conductor treats you like you’re paying him rent.”

The techie also criticized the metro work on Outer Ring Road as a top contributor to Bengaluru’s deteriorating traffic. He encapsulated the daily routine as ‘a team-building exercise for introverts, a cardio session for the brave, and a lesson in patience for all’.

Ever since it was posted on Reddit, his tirade has gone viral on social media, rekindling discussions on the deplorable condition of Bengaluru’s public transport particularly for long-distance travelers who do not have personal vehicles.
