A 32-year-old man in Bengaluru tragically lost his life on Diwali night after his friends dared him to sit on a box of firecrackers.
Police reports indicate that Shabarish and his friends were celebrating Diwali on October 31, allegedly under the influence of alcohol. His friends offered to buy him an autorickshaw if he accepted their challenge to sit on a box of firecrackers.
In a shocking turn of events, Shabarish, who was unemployed, agreed to the dare. CCTV footage from the area shows his friends backing away after igniting the box of firecrackers he was sitting on. The video captures the moment of the explosion, with Shabarish seen writhing in pain on the ground as his friends encircle him.
He sustained severe injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital by his friends. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Shabarish succumbed to his injuries on November 2.
In connection with his death, the Konanakunte police have arrested six individuals, charging them with culpable homicide. According to DCP South Lokesh, Shabarish was unemployed and had hoped for a better future with the promised autorickshaw from his friends.
