Bengaluru: Kejriwal’s posters put up in city ahead of opposition meet

Posters of Arvind Kejriwal, along with several opposition leaders, were put up in Bengaluru on Sunday, with the Congress party breaking its “silence” and openly declaring its support for AAP in its fight against the Centre’s Ordinance over control of Delhi’s bureaucrats.

However, the Aam Aadmi Party has convened a meeting of its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) in the national capital on Sunday to decide whether to attend the opposition gathering on July 17-18. Earlier in the day, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chaddha described the grand old party’s unambiguous stance on the Ordinance issue as a “positive development.”

Chaddha stated on Twitter, “Congress declares its unequivocal opposition to the Delhi Ordinance.” This is an encouraging development.”

The Bengaluru meeting is being held with the goal of unifying the opposition to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in the forthcoming general assembly elections in 2024.

Top leaders from at least 24 political parties are expected to attend the second Opposition unity summit, which will be held in Bengaluru, Karnataka, from July 17 to 18. According to sources, eight new parties have joined the Opposition parties in their efforts to present a united front against the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier on Saturday, Jairam Ramesh, the Congress communications department director, suggested that the Bill on Centre’s Ordinance would be opposed in the forthcoming Monsoon session of Parliament, which begins on July 20. The country’s federal system is under threat, according to Jairam Ramesh, and “we will seek a debate on this in the upcoming session of Parliament.”
