Bengaluru Braces for Two-Day Water Supply Cut: Check Timings and Details

Bengaluru residents are bracing for Water Supply Cut on Thursday and Friday (June 5 and 6) as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BSWWB) undertakes maintenance work related to the Cauvery Stage V Project. According to reports from the Times of India, all pumping stations will be shut down to facilitate the ongoing project, impacting several areas across the city.

Initially scheduled for June 4 and 5, the water supply cut has been rescheduled, with a 12-hour disruption planned from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm for areas supplied by Kaveri 1, 2, and 3 stages’ water supply units. Additionally, areas receiving water from Kaveri 4th stage 1st and 2nd phases’ units will face a four-hour disruption from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Residents have been urged to use water judiciously during the maintenance period and advised to store sufficient water to meet basic needs. The water board emphasizes that the disruption is due to maintenance and not a shortage of supply.

While the current Water Supply Cut is attributed to maintenance, Bengaluru has been grappling with a water crisis in recent months. Many parts of the city, including its tech corridor, experienced severe shortages during April and May. The situation prompted the state government to implement stringent measures, including fines for unnecessary water usage. Bengaluru witnessed its driest April in 41 years in 2024, further exacerbating the water scarcity issue.

As Bengaluru navigates through these challenges, cooperation from residents during the maintenance period is crucial to ensuring minimal inconvenience and sustained water supply in the future.
