While greeting Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Beijing on Monday, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng reaffirmed the concept of the 'Dragon-Elephant Dance', indicating Beijing's desire to cozy up with New Delhi.

The appeal reaffirms China's willingness to broaden cooperation with India, describing it as crucial to the two great Asian nations.

Han characterized the 2023 meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kazan as a 'pivotal moment' that renewed China-India relations.

Emphasizing the importance of cooperation, he indicated both nations, as leading developing states and principal voices of the Global South, need to 'choose to be partners that support each other's success', and stated the "Dragon-Elephant Dance remains the right path forward."

Emphasizing the need to continue the progress made by their leaders, Han called on both sides to maintain high-level contacts, deepen practical cooperation, and heed each other's fundamental concerns so that bilateral relations could continue to grow in a healthy, stable, and lasting manner.

Jaishankar, on his part, said that relations between India and China have registered 'steady progress' after Kazan talks. Jaishankar also reiterated India's adherence to the consensus agreed upon by Modi and Xi, stating India's willingness to establish 'mutually beneficial cooperation' and enhance communication, particularly through multilateral platforms.

He also expressed India's solidarity with China in its current chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and wished Beijing good luck in hosting this year's SCO Summit.
