A recent incident has sparked considerable debate online, as devotees were seen mistaking water dripping from an air conditioning unit for holy prasad, raising concerns about the impact of religious devotion on critical thinking.
A video circulating on social media displayed attendees fervently sipping the water, oblivious to its source. This spectacle elicited mixed reactions, with some praising the devotees’ faith while others voiced concerns about the potential health risks of consuming what they believed to be sacred water.
IANS reached out to the temple’s sevaks for clarification, revealing a surprising truth. They confirmed that the water from the air conditioning unit was merely condensation and not ‘Charan Amrit,’ as assumed by the devotees.
Dinesh Goswami, one of the temple sevaks, stated, “We respect the faith people have in God, but it’s essential to inform them. The water they believe to be ‘Charan Amrit’ is actually just water from the AC. The real ‘Charan Amrit’ would contain ingredients like Tulsi and rose petals.”
Fellow sevak Mohan Goswami echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of raising awareness among worshippers.
The revelations have sparked controversy and outrage among devotees. Keshav Dev, a devotee, expressed his disappointment, saying, “We come here with deep faith, and now this news breaks our hearts. The temple must prevent people from consuming this water, believing it to be divine.”
Another devotee, Kanha, added, “We consider ‘Jal’ sacred. If it’s just AC water, it’s unsafe.”
Initially intrigued and curious, many devotees were dismayed upon learning the truth and have since called for action against temple authorities for failing to inform worshippers.
