According to the RBI’s official state-wise calendar, bank holidays in India differ by region and are declared for national, religious, and local occasions. In addition, banks remain shut on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

Occasion: Losoong / Namsoong (Sikkimese New Year)

Locations: Aizawl, Kohima, Shillong

Occasion: Christmas Eve

Banks in these northeastern cities will remain closed a day ahead of Christmas.

Date: Thursday, December 25

Occasion: Christmas

Banks nationwide will be shut on Christmas, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.

Bank Holiday on December 26: Extended Christmas Closure

Date: Friday, December 26

Locations: Aizawl, Kohima, Shillong

In these states, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days, including Christmas, the weekend, and regional holidays.
