Bajrang Dal Protests Against Diljit Dosanjh’s Indore Concert Over Liquor, Meat

On December 8, 2024, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) members protested against actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The groups opposed the event due to reports of open liquor consumption and meat being served, citing concerns over cultural preservation and women’s safety. VHP member Yash Bachani emphasized their commitment to protecting the city’s culture and warned of potential street protests.

Protesters chanted slogans like “Jai Jai Shri Ram” and “Desh ka Bal, Bajrang Dal,” indicating readiness for further action. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Amrendra Singh assured that law enforcement is prioritizing law and order, women’s security, and drug abuse prevention. He confirmed that serving alcohol openly at the concert was not permitted, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely.

This incident follows a similar protest in Pune, where the state excise department canceled a permit for serving liquor at Dosanjh’s concert after objections from local groups.

Despite these challenges, Dosanjh’s ‘Dil-Luminati Tour’ continues, with upcoming performances scheduled in Chandigarh on December 14 and Guwahati on December 29.
