Bahraich: 11-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Attacked by Wolf, Search for Sixth ‘Killer’ Wolf Continues

In Bahraich’s Mohan Pipri village, an 11-year-old boy, Imran Ali, was allegedly attacked by a wolf in the early hours of Monday. According to his family, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. as they slept on the roof of their home. Imran’s father, Mohammad Umar, recounted, “The wolf pounced on my son while we were asleep. He screamed for help, and people quickly gathered.” Imran suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Umar also highlighted the ongoing wolf threat in the village, stating that several people have already fallen victim to the animal’s attacks. “The administration is trying hard to capture the man-eater, but so far, it hasn’t succeeded,” he said. Villagers, fearful of venturing out at night, are assisting the authorities in their efforts to capture the wolf.

The wolf has repeatedly evaded the forest department’s capture efforts. “Despite their best efforts, the wolf keeps escaping. We hope it’s caught soon,” Umar added.

On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Bahraich to meet families affected by the attacks and reassured locals that ‘Operation Bhediya’ would continue until the wolves are no longer a threat. The Chief Minister acknowledged the casualties and injuries caused by wolf attacks over the past two months and stated, “A forest department team is working to rescue the animal, but shoot-at-sight orders are also in place as a last resort.”

The forest department has been working to capture a pack of six wolves responsible for the deaths of nine people and injuries to 50 since July. Under ‘Operation Bhediya,’ five wolves have been captured, with the fifth caught on September 10. Efforts are ongoing to capture the final wolf.
