A baby elephant’s bid to emulate humans has again won the internet’s heart. An Instagram account @tuskershelter posted a video with the young elephant playing with a foldable chair and the result is clumsy yet adorable.
The video starts with the inquisitive calf venturing up to the chair, apparently trying to work out how it could use it the way a human does. It makes some clumsy attempts to sit, attempting to put its wee frame on the seat but, of course, gravity gets the upper hand. The attempt might have failed, but fans were left smirking at the determination and naivety of the little one.
The video has evoked universal smiles and reactions, with commenters swamping the comments section with love and laughter. Commenters were filled with how the playful energy of the elephant felt childlike, comparing the calf to human toddlers.

Gentle Giant in the Making
This is not the first time @tuskershelter has posted about tender moments of this playful elephant. In an earlier shared video, the same elephant was seen slowly moving towards a man who was seated on a chair. In a beautiful display of affection, it encircled the man with its small trunk and body in a slow hug. The moment was genuine but deeply moving.
“Elephants are really emotional animals,” one Instagram user commented, with another commenting, “That hug was more authentic than most humans.” The sanctuary was also praised for offering a safe and nurturing place for these animals.
Why Baby Elephants Are the Internet’s Sweethearts
And why are baby elephants so sweet to the public eye? Because they have innate curiosity, unsteady stride, and they go through life with wide-eyed awe. These characteristics bring back people’s memories of human children, and there’s an immediate emotional connection.
Elephants make a lasting impression because, in large part, of their incredible emotional intelligence. They’re actually famous for forming close, endearing relationships with humans and other elephants. Videos of their loving behavior such as hugging, nudging, or playful behavior tend to go viral because they bring out childlike, unadulterated joy.
With their floppy ears, gentle nature, and welcoming attitude, elephants aren’t only cute they represent compassion, connection, and profound emotional warmth.
