Baba Siddique Murder Case: Key Accused Used Labourer’s Hotspot to Evade Police

Prime suspect Akashdeep Gill, arrested in Punjab, reportedly used a labourer’s mobile hotspot to communicate with key conspirators, including the alleged mastermind, gangster Anmol Bishnoi, according to Mumbai Police.

Gill, identified as the logistics coordinator in the murder plot orchestrated by Anmol Bishnoi, admitted to using the hotspot of a labourer named Balwinder to evade police detection. “By relying on Balwinder’s hotspot, Gill appeared offline, making it difficult to trace his activities,” an official from the crime branch revealed. Investigators are now searching for Gill’s mobile phone, which may contain critical evidence linked to the case.

NCP leader Baba Siddique was fatally shot by three assailants near his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office, in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar on October 12.

On November 12, Shiva Kumar, the main shooter in the case, along with four other accused, was remanded to police custody until November 19. The arrests were made by a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Mumbai Crime Branch in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to Gill, police have arrested Salman Vohra and Akashdeep Singh for their roles in the murder. Vohra is accused of providing financial support for the crime.

The murder has been linked to a gang led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, which has claimed responsibility for the attack.
