Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) is India’s biggest health assurance scheme, which gives qualifying families free health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh annually. The Ayushman card is the key to obtaining cashless treatment from this scheme at government and empanelled private hospitals across the country in thousands of institutions.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana: Scheme Details and Benefits

  • Coverage: Up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.
  • Eligibility: Families listed in the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011, and those enlisted on RSBY lists.
  • Scope: No limit on family size, age, or gender.
  • Cashless Treatment: Cardholders can have free treatment of more than 1,500 medical procedures in listed hospitals.
  • Portability: Eligible all over India in any empanelled hospital.

Step 1: Go to Official ABHA Portal

  • Visit [https://pmjay.gov.in](https://pmjay.gov.in) or [https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in](https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in) for Ayushman registration and generation of cards.

Step 2: Verify Your Eligibility

  • Click on “Am I Eligible?” and provide your mobile number or ration card number to check whether you are eligible based on SECC data.

Step 3: Provide Registration Details

  • If eligible, proceed to enter your Aadhaar number and personal details. Ensure accuracy as this will link your identity to the card.

Step 4: Validate Through OTP

  • Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number for authentication.

Step 5: Upload Documents

  • Upload scanned copies of identity proof (Aadhaar/Address proof) and family documents if prompted (ration card, etc.).

Step 6: Download Ayushman Card

  • After registration, download your digital Ayushman card or take a print of the physical card. The card has your name, unique ID, and QR code for hospital validation.

  • Hospitals: More than 28,000 hospitals are empanelled, both private and public.
  • Card Validity: One-time registration; the card will be valid as long as the scheme is running.
  • No Premium: No charge for registration or treatment by the beneficiaries.

  • Can I enrol if my name is not there? : Go to your local Ayushman Mitra or Common Service Centre (CSC) if eligible but not registered; take necessary identity and family documents for manual registration.
  • Is there offline registration? : Yes, it can be done by Ayushman Mitras in the hospital or state-approved kiosks offline.
