Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ayodhya on Tuesday for a major ceremonial event at the newly built Ram temple. His visit will mark the formal completion of the temple’s construction, months after its grand inauguration. The highlight of the day will be the hoisting of a large saffron flag on the temple’s shikhar, symbolising the spiritual and cultural significance of the shrine.
Saffron Flag Symbolises Completion of Construction
The Prime Minister’s Office said the triangular saffron flag measures 10 feet by 20 feet. It carries a radiant Sun that represents Lord Ram’s valour. It also features the sacred ‘Om’ symbol and an image of the Kovidara tree. Officials said the flag will be raised on a shikhar built in the traditional Nagara style.

The PMO added that the surrounding 800-metre Parkota reflects South Indian architecture. The layout highlights the diversity of design influences used in the temple complex. The flag aims to represent dignity, unity, and cultural continuity, mirroring the ideals linked with Ram Rajya.
Modi’s Tour of Key Temples Before Ceremony in Ayodhya
Before the flag-hoisting, Modi will visit several shrines within the complex. His first stop will be the Saptmandir complex. It houses temples dedicated to Maharshi Vashishtha, Maharshi Vishwamitra, Maharshi Agastya, Maharshi Valmiki, Devi Ahilya, Nishadraj Guha, and Mata Shabari.
He will then visit the Sheshavtar Mandir and offer prayers at the Mata Annapurna temple. Later, he will perform darshan and pooja at the Ram Darbar Garbh Grah and the Ram Lalla Garbh Grah.
Around noon, Modi will hoist the saffron flag on the Ram Mandir shikhar and address a gathering. The event falls on an auspicious day — the Panchami date of Shukla Paksha in Margashirsha. This day is observed as Shri Ram and Sita’s Vivah Panchami. It also marks the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who meditated in Ayodhya during the 17th century.
Carvings in Ram Mandir Tell Ramayana Stories
The Ram temple features extensive artwork on its outer walls. The PMO said craftsmen carved 87 stone episodes from the Valmiki Ramayana on the outer structure. They also placed 79 bronze-cast cultural scenes along the enclosure walls. These elements help visitors understand Lord Ram’s life and India’s cultural narrative.
Massive Security in Ayodhya Ahead of PM’s Visit
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected preparations on Monday. He instructed officials to ensure that all arrangements remain smooth.
State officials said they deployed 6,970 security personnel across Ayodhya. The force includes ATS commandos, NSG snipers, cyber teams, and technical units. Anti-drone systems and advanced surveillance cameras are active around the temple.
Teams handling crowd control, security checks, explosives detection, and emergencies are positioned at sensitive locations. Bomb squads, fire units, dog squads, rapid-response groups, and VVIP security teams are also on alert.
