Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at Saptmandir in Ayodhya before taking part in the historic flag hoisting event at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. He will raise a saffron flag on the temple’s 191-foot-high ‘shikhar’. The ceremonial flag is 10 feet in height and 22 feet long, featuring the symbol of a radiant Sun, an Om, and the Kovidara tree. After this major event, which many are referring to as the symbolic “second pran pratishtha”, PM Modi will address the attendees.
Before the ceremony, the Prime Minister led a roadshow in Ayodhya and worshipped at the Saptmandir. The Saptmandir holds temples dedicated to various revered figures, including Maharshi Valmiki, Maharshi Vashishtha, Maharshi Vishwamitra, Maharshi Agastya, Devi Ahilya, Nishadraj Guha, and Mata Shabari. After this visit, he will proceed to the Sheshavtar Mandir.
The saffron flag will be installed on the temple’s shikhar, built in the classic North Indian Nagara architectural style. Meanwhile, the 800-metre Parkota, which surrounds the temple complex, reflects traditional South Indian design influences.
The temple trust has reportedly invited between 6,000 and 7,000 people from different regions of Uttar Pradesh to take part in the ceremony.
Around 10 AM: Modi will visit Saptmandir followed by a stop at Sheshavtar Mandir.
Around 11 AM: He will visit Mata Annapurna Mandir and later offer Darshan and Pooja at the Ram Darbar Garbh Grah, then proceed to Ram Lalla Garbha Grah.
Around 12 Noon: PM Modi will hoist the saffron flag atop the shikhar of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and then address the gathering.
The rituals for the occasion will be performed by 108 learned Acharyas from Ayodhya, Kashi, and South India, under the guidance of Ganeshwar Shastri, a respected scholar from Kashi. The installation of the triangular flag is seen as the final step in completing the Ram Mandir, following the consecration of Ram Lalla in January 2024.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, security in the city has been significantly tightened. A total of 6,970 personnel, including ATS commandos, NSG snipers, cyber experts, and technical units, have been posted across Ayodhya to ensure smooth execution of the event.
Many devotees reached the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on Monday to have ‘darshan’ of Lord Ram ahead of the prestigious flag hoisting ceremony.
