In a significant outreach initiative along the border belt, noted social activist and educator Rubel Nagi visited Tangdhar near the Line of Control, reaffirming her commitment to education and humanitarian service in remote frontier communities. Arriving from Dubai in collaboration with the Indian Army, Nagi interacted with college students and local residents, sharing her journey from grassroots social work to international recognition. She encouraged young people to pursue education as a pathway to empowerment and resilience, despite the region’s challenging conditions.

During the visit, she distributed blankets to underprivileged families living in high-altitude border settlements, addressing immediate humanitarian needs amid harsh winter conditions.

Computer Centre Announced for Border Village

Emphasising digital inclusion, Nagi announced that the Rubel Nagi Art Foundation will establish a dedicated computer learning centre in Amrohi village. The initiative aims to provide students with access to digital education, basic computer literacy and online learning opportunities — resources that remain scarce in the remote border belt. Residents welcomed the move, noting that improved access to technology could significantly enhance educational prospects and employment opportunities for local youth.

International Recognition in Dubai

Speaking to media representatives, Nagi described receiving the Global Teacher Award in Dubai as a defining moment in her career. The honour recognised her sustained contribution to community-based education, particularly her work in transforming under-resourced areas through art-led learning, women’s empowerment programmes and free educational initiatives for disadvantaged children. At the award ceremony in Dubai, attended by international educators and social leaders, she was acknowledged for creating scalable grassroots education models that combine creativity, social awareness and skill development. The recognition also highlighted her foundation’s work in establishing art and learning centres across underserved regions, impacting thousands of children from marginalised backgrounds. Nagi dedicated the award to India’s grassroots educators and reaffirmed her commitment to expanding educational outreach in remote and border communities.

A Message of Hope from the Frontier

Throughout her interaction with villagers in Tangdhar, Nagi listened to concerns regarding access to education, infrastructure and livelihood opportunities. She emphasised that sustained social welfare initiatives and community participation are key to long-term development in frontier regions. Her visit concluded with a message of resilience and hope, bringing renewed attention, resources and opportunity to one of the country’s most remote border areas.
