Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to induct Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj into the Delhi cabinet today following the resignation of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Minister Satyendar Jain. Both are currently lodged in Tihar jail.
The oath-taking ceremony of the two newly appointed ministers is expected to take place around 4:00 pm today in the Auditorium at Raj Niwas, Delhi, said the official statement from the General Administration Department.
President Draupadi Murmu approved the appointment of Atishi and Bharadwaj as ministers in the Delhi cabinet on Tuesday, on the advice of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Atishi is an MLA from the Kalkaji constituency, and her role was immense in Manish Sisodia’s education system programme in Delhi’s government schools.
Meanwhile, Greater Kailash MLA Bhardwaj earlier served as a minister during the first stint of AAP’s government. AAP’s spokesperson, Bhardwaj, also served as the Delhi Jal Board’s vice chairman.
Currently, there are five ministers in the Delhi cabinet, including CM Arvind Kejriwal, who has no portfolio.
Sisodia stepped down from his post following his arrest in the Delhi excise scam. However, another minister, Satyendar Jain, lodged in jail last year, and his all the portfolios had gone to Sisodia’s kitty.
