In two separate operations on Saturday, the Assam police Special Task Force (STF) and Kamrup district police confiscated a big quantity of heroin worth approximately Rs. 11 crore.
Partha Sarathi Mahanta, DIG of STF, informed the reporter that based on confidential intelligence, Kamrup district police launched an operation late Saturday night, recovering 700 grammes of heroin from a car and arresting three drug peddlers.
“Kalyan Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police for the Kamrup district, received information that three couriers, Abdul Hai, Mohidul Islam, and Rofikul Islam, were transporting narcotics by vehicle from Guwahati to Dhubri.” “The police team intercepted the vehicle in the Palashbari area and recovered 50 soap boxes containing 700 grammes of heroin,” Partha Sarathi Mahanta stated.
On the other hand, 40 more soap cases totaling 500 grams were seized from a hidden chamber of a vehicle that had been involved in an accident in the STF narcotics case on June 25.
Previously, on June 25, the STF (Special Task Force) captured 2.2 kilogrammes of heroin in Hajo and Guwahati. According to the officials, they obtained source information that a narcotics cell located in Manipur was distributing narcotics through Assam. The cops took action after obtaining the information. As a result, the group was traced down and pursued by the STF team and Kalyan Pathak, Addl. SP (HQ).
