Arunachal: 3 more arrested in APPSC question paper leak case

In connection with the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) question paper leak case, the Special Investigation Cell (SEC) has detained three more people.

Three people, including a government official, have been taken into custody as part of the investigation, according to officials on Thursday. The investigation is being conducted by the SIC (vigilance) police station. Posi Gamlin, alias Gamkin, and Eagle Sora, both inhabitants of West Siang, as well as Taloka Darang (59), a Siang resident, were also detained.

According to them, Posi Gamlin is a block education officer (BEO) posted in the Siang district, and Eagle Sora is a junior engineer (JE) with the RWD.

The SCI investigation into the various exams, according to officials, is still ongoing, and every aspect of the case is being thoroughly looked into. All illegal procedures and professional standards are upheld throughout the investigation.

“We are committed to ensuring justice to the aggrieved and request anyone with concrete evidence or details of the case to come forward and report the same,” Itanagar SP (SIC-Vigilance) Anant Mittal said in an official statement.

The statement claimed that after these three further arrests, a total of 17 people have now been detained in connection with the APPSC paper leak case.

In the final week of August of this year, the APPSC held the recruitment exam for the position of assistant engineer (civil). The recruitment exam paper was leaked, which led the state government to suspend four APPSC members.

The Itanagar police turned over the case to the SIC (vigilance) the next month.

On the request of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which was also involved in the investigation, registered a case in October under sections 120(B), 420, 406, and 409 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988 against a person and unnamed APPSC officials for the alleged leakage of the question paper.
