ART CENTRIX SPACE PRESENTS BRINK, CURATED BY GALLERIST MONICA JAIN

BRINK, a group show at Art Centrix Space curated by Monica Jain opened on Thursday, 10 March and will be on until 10 April. The exhibition features 24 works by 7 contemporary Indian artists including Bhargav Barla, Bholanath Rudra, Ganesh Gohain, KP Pradeep kumar, Neeraj Patel, Shalina Vichitra and Tom Vattakuzhy. Artists Tom Vattakhuzhy and Ganesh Gohain gave a special walkthrough of their works at the preview. Monica Jain, the curator-director of Art Centrix Space explains,”The curatorial premise -BRINK, primarily foregrounds the idea of the artist being a harbinger of change – one who is painfully aware that life has presented an unprecedented opportunity for the world to come together with urgency in order to achieve something that has been never possible singularly so far” The title, BRINK, generates a sense of being at the edge of something powerful where reimagining and revaluation of actions and practices are not only imperative but critical. Jain has always believed that the unconscious can bring out different states of mind through aesthetics and artistic practices. From both the curatorial and philosophical perspective, this Page 1 of 6 exhibition talks about the meaning of events and a sense of something inevitable that is about to happen. It poses questions like can it be controlled and can such interventions generate a paradigm shift both historically and psychologically? With such questions, this philosophical proposition highlights the significance of getting a powerful grip on the present for the immediate future. In addition to exhibiting some of Art Centrix’s Space’s established gallery artists, Tom Vattakhuzhy, Ganesh Gohain and K.P. Pradeep kumar the exhibition also features works from Bhargav Barla, Bholanath Rudra, Shalina Vichitra and Neeraj Patel who showcase their artistic practises through photographs, paintings, and sculptures. BRINK hopes to create a sense of harmony within binaries despite the pauses, gaps, reversals and paradoxes between them. BRINK also offers viewers an opportunity to see the Art Centrix Space’s expanded space; this includes the beautifully landscaped two acres in South Delhi, which houses the main gallery space and sculpture garden. The extended and renovated Art Centrix Space is intended to provide a stimulus to artistic and curatorial practices in Delhi. Developed as a hub for South Asian contemporary art, it will enable the gallery to build on its existing programming acting as both a gallery and a space for cultural exchange. Following BRINK, Art Centrix Space have an exciting calendar of upcoming exhibitions including international guest curators, upcoming programming includes:
