The Army on Sunday paid heartfelt tributes to four soldiers who tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday. The solemn ceremony, held at Srinagar’s Chinar Corps headquarters, saw the General Officer Commanding of the sensitive Chinar Corps, along with officers from the Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Border Security Force (BSF), honoring the fallen soldiers.

Havildar Hari Ram Rewar, Lance Havildar Pawan Kumar, Lance Naik Jitendra Kumar Yadav, and Lance Naik Nitish Kumar were on duty when the vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Bandipora. Two other soldiers sustained injuries in the accident.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chinar Corps expressed their admiration for the soldiers’ bravery and sacrifice: “Chinar Warriors salute the valour and sacrifice of the brave hearts and express deep gratitude to our brothers from S K Payeen, District Bandipora, for extending help in rescue and recovery efforts.”

The Army reaffirmed its commitment to the families of the deceased, adding, “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and are committed to their well-being.”  The tragic loss serves as a somber reminder of the risks faced by armed forces personnel in the line of duty, even beyond the battlefield.
