Police said Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers were detained on Saturday for holding a rally without authorization in the Tenali area of Hyderabad.
TDP conducted a rally in the Tenali area of Guntur District as part of the Tenali Bandh program. Tenali Circle Inspector Koteswarao stated, “We detained them to control law and order and to maintain peace.” Nobody was arrested.”
The rally was arranged in response to a scuffle between YSRCP and TDP councilors at a Municipal Council meeting in the Guntur district’s Tenali area on Friday.
TDP councilors had protested to the approval of a single tender for the door-to-door works, and a scuffle erupted at Tenali Municipal Office over the issue.
As a result of the scuffle, TDP members conducted a rally in the Guntur District on Saturday, while YSR Congress Party members staged a massive protest at the Tenali Municipal Office.
According to police, members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) at the rally were stopped because they did not have authorization from the authorities to hold the rally.
Members of the TDP protested the police activity.
The rally was diverted to the opposite side after it was barred from approaching the market, and the protestors were detained.
