Anta Assembly constituency is located in the Baran district of Rajasthan and falls under the Jhalawar-Baran Lok Sabha constituency. It is a general, non-reserved seat, Constituency No. 193. 

This seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of the sitting MLA, Kanwar Lal Meena of the BJP, after his conviction in a 20-year-old criminal case. 

The constituency covers a significant rural area (about 79% rural according to estimates) with the remainder urban, and includes a mix of agricultural, tribal, and general population groups. 

Anta By-Election 2025 Date

The by-election in Anta will be held on 11 November 2025, and the results will be declared on 14 November 2025. The Election Commission of India declared the schedule for the Anta constituency in this by-election round.

Anta Rajasthan Election Result 2023

In the 2023 Assembly elections, Kanwar Lal Meena of the BJP won the seat with 87,390 votes (49.64 %), defeating Pramod Jain Bhaya of the Indian National Congress (INC), who polled 81,529 votes (46.31 %). The margin was 5,861 votes. 

The disqualification of Kanwar Lal Meena became the reason for the present by-election.

Who Was Kanwar Lal Meena?

Kanwar Lal Meena was the elected MLA from Anta in 2023, representing the BJP. However, he was later disqualified from the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly after being convicted and sentenced to three years in prison for pointing a pistol at a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM). His disqualification triggered the upcoming by-election. 

He was considered a close associate of former CM Vasundhara Raje, and his political fate has significant implications for the BJP’s hold in the region.
