Andhra Pradesh: TDP’s Ravindra Kumar Vows To Uphold Muslim Reservation

On Friday, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader K. Ravindra Kumar affirmed that the Muslim reservation in Andhra Pradesh would persist as the TDP, along with its allies the BJP and the Jana Sena, prepares to establish governance in the state following a resounding triumph in the assembly elections.

“We will continue that. There is no problem at all,” Kumar told ANI on Friday.
Earlier, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu also asserted to preserve the Muslim quota reservation in the state contrasting the BJP’s assertion to not provide reservation based on religion.

Earlier today, a gathering of TDP MPs convened at the residence of former TDP MP Jayadev Galla in Delhi. Concurrently, a significant assembly of newly elected NDA MPs took place on Friday at the central hall of Parliament.

When questioned about the party’s intentions regarding presenting demands at the meeting, TDP leader Kumar remarked, “Today’s discussion isn’t conducive for outlining demands. We are an integral part of the NDA, so the notion of demands doesn’t arise. It’s a pre-election coalition. Historically, we’ve sought assistance from the Centre as needed, availed schemes, and participated in Centre-State collaborations as per the AP Reorganisation Act.”

He further emphasized, “Numerous considerations are at play; it’s an ongoing process. Foremost, the priority is the reconstruction of Andhra Pradesh, which has regressed by 25 years.”

Earlier this week, NDA party leaders elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader during a coalition meeting in Delhi. Sources suggest that Narendra Modi is anticipated to be sworn in as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term on June 9.
