A horrible accident occurred in the wee hours of the morning in Andhra Pradesh's ASR district on the morning of Friday, December 12th, 2025 killing many and injured more. The private bus was carrying nearly 37 people, and it lost control on a treacherous hilly stretch and plunged deep into a valley.
The ill-fated bus, bearing registration number AP 39 UM 6543, was badly damaged due to the fall. Rescue teams immediately swung into action, along with the locals who were awakened by the deafening sound.
Initial reports had tragically suggested between 10 and 15 people lost their lives, but so far, authorities have confirmed 8 deaths. The number may yet climb as rescue operations remain in full swing in the densely forested ghats.
Rescue teams raced against time, freeing the passengers from the mangled remains of the bogies amidst the challenging landscape.
The injured survivors have been quickly rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Preliminary information indicates that some survivors are being treated at the Bhadrachalam Area Hospital.
The accident occurred on the ghat road of Chittoor-Maredumilli, which is a path that has very steep and difficult stretches.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating the demanding ghat section, leading to the catastrophe.
A major contributing factor to the accident could have been the driver's inexperience with the local terrain. Sources indicate the driver was from elsewhere and perhaps unfamiliar with the particular hazards of the steep, curving roadway.

Locals were instrumental in such a way that they rushed to the scene barely moments after the crash to offer their help and called the police, hence giving some speed to the organized rescue response.
Recovery operation is going on, the extensive rescue and recovery operation was still going on as officials worked to confirm the full count of casualties. The incident has caused the loss of precious life, and consequently, a pall has fallen across the community.
