Anant Singh Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody in Dularchand Yadav Murder Case

JDU candidate and former MLA Anant Singh was taken into 14-day judicial custody on Sunday afternoon, hours after his arrest in connection with the murder of Jan Suraaj Party supporter Dularchand Yadav. The controversial JDU candidate, who was produced before a magistrate court, will be lodged in Patna’s Beur jail.

Anant Singh Taken Into Custody

A team, led by Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), reached Singh’s residence in Barh and took him into custody. Singh had been under the scanner since the killing of Yadav, who recently clashed with his sympathizers in Mokama. He was brought to Patna for questioning.

Two More Accused Arrested

Two other persons, identified as Manikant Thakur and Ranjeet Ram, who were also present when the incident took place during the election campaign on Thursday, were also arrested by police.

How Did Dularchand Yadav Die? 

Yadav died of a ruptured lung and multiple rib fractures during election campaigning in Mokama near Patna. He died while he was campaigning for Jan Suraaj Party’s candidate Piyush Priyadarshi on Thursday.

An autopsy ruled out gunshot as the cause of death, amidst political tensions ahead of Bihar Assembly polls.

SSP Confirms Late-Night Arrests

At a late-night joint press conference with Patna District Magistrate Thyagarajan SM, Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said, “Police have arrested three persons Anant Singh, Manikant Thakur, and Ranjeet Ram in connection with the murder of Dular Chand Yadav.” “The post-mortem report and the preliminary investigation suggest that it’s a case of murder,” he added.
