The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has decreased milk prices by Rs 1 per litre for one-litre packs nationwide.

GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta informed PTI, “We have decreased the prices of one-litre packs by Rs 1 per litre nationwide. ” He continued, “This is to motivate consumers to purchase larger packs of milk and receive an incentive for doing so. ”

In Delhi, the cost of Amul Gold milk has fallen to Rs 67 from Rs 68 per litre, while Amul Taaza is now available at Rs 55, reduced from Rs 56 per litre.

GCMMF reported an 8% growth in turnover, reaching Rs 59,445 crore in the 2023-24 financial year. Mehta further noted that the cooperative anticipates double-digit growth in revenue in the current fiscal year due to robust demand.

On average, GCMMF processed 310 lakh litres of milk daily in the previous fiscal year, with a total annual milk processing capacity of 500 lakh litres. GCMMF is the largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative in the world, comprising 36 lakh farmers from 18,600 villages in Gujarat, and its 18 member unions manage 300 lakh litres of milk each day.

The cooperative is ranked 8th among the world’s top 20 dairy companies in milk processing, according to the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN). Besides its domestic market, GCMMF exports dairy products to around 50 countries, including the US, where it introduced four varieties of fresh milk for Indian expatriates and the Asian community last year.
