Amit Shah slams dynastic politics, targets Cong, DMK, Sena

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a blistering attack on dynastic politics, labelling it a “poison”, during his day-long visit to Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. He singled out Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) as parties steeped in it.
While addressing the media, Shah said under the veil of dynastic politics, power over both the party and the government remains concentrated within one family. This, according to him, sidelines grassroots workers and leaders.
The Home Minister also pointed out that several key figures in his party, including Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and himself, emerged without any political legacy. He contrasted this with the aforementioned parties, arguing that in their case, control remains firmly in family hands.
During his visit, Shah unveiled the Madhya Pradesh government’s performance report spanning two decades, a strategic move with assembly elections on the horizon.
While defending the BJP’s ticket distribution to leaders’ family members, he emphasised that merit was the primary criterion. “When parties become family properties, where will ground-level leaders stand?” he questioned.
Shah also addressed the recent defeats of BJP in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections. Drawing attention to BJP’s successes in Manipur, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and on the national level under Modi’s leadership, he projected confidence in the party’s prospects.
Furthermore, he countered Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s allegations that the BJP would instigate riots in Madhya Pradesh, advising him to be cautious with his words. Shah also highlighted multiple alleged scams under the Congress rule, challenging them to provide answers.
Despite the accusations, Shah maintained that any legal actions against Congress leaders, including MP Congress chief Kamal Nath, would not be rooted in political vendetta. He stressed that investigations follow a particular procedure and are not influenced by political agendas.
On BJP’s previous assembly poll defeat in Madhya Pradesh, he claimed that Congress-sponsored caste movements led to a divisive atmosphere.
However, he remained optimistic, citing the public’s ability to compare the BJP’s tenure with Congress’s 15-month rule.
Highlighting his party’s focus, Shah stated that the BJP wishes to contest elections based on a development-driven agenda, pointing out longstanding welfare schemes like free housing and electricity as a testament to their commitment.
