Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the combined security forces following the recent encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, expressing confidence that the country, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, would soon eradicate the threat of Naxalism. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reported that 29 Naxals were killed during the operation, labeling it as one of the most successful anti-Naxal missions in recent times.
Shah praised the ongoing efforts against Naxal terror, highlighting the increased support from the Chhattisgarh police in providing vital intelligence. He emphasized the significant progress made since the BJP government took office, with over 80 Naxals killed and numerous others arrested or surrendered.
However, the Congress raised doubts about the operation, alleging past instances of innocent villagers being mistaken for Naxals and killed during BJP rule. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma dismissed these claims, asserting the bravery of the security forces involved.
Meanwhile, Bastar Inspector General of Police (IG) P Sundarraj reported a total of 71 Naxals killed since January, marking a crucial phase in the fight against Left-wing extremism. Sundarraj described the recent encounter as one of the most successful operations, with a significant recovery of arms and ammunition.
