Actor Allu Arjun was granted bail on Friday by the Nampally court in Hyderabad in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede incident.
The tragic occurrence happened on December 4 during the premiere of *Pushpa 2: The Rule* at Sandhya Theatre. A large crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun, who welcomed fans from the sunroof of his car. The ensuing chaos caused a stampede, resulting in the death of a woman named Revathi and injuries to her child.
Following the incident, Allu Arjun was arrested and later released on bail after presenting a bond of ₹50,000.
Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case
The stampede caused the death of a 35-year-old woman and injured her eight-year-old son. A case was lodged against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station, prompted by a complaint from the family of the deceased woman.
Allu Arjun was detained on December 13 but secured a four-week interim bail from the Telangana High Court on the same day. He was released from Hyderabad prison on December 14.
The complaint alleged that police officers accompanying Allu Arjun used a “lathi charge,” which, along with inadequate crowd management, resulted in the woman’s death and injuries to her children. The complainant noted the lack of necessary arrangements during the promotional event, placing blame on both the police and the event organizers.
