The Hyderabad police have filed a chargesheet in the Pushpa 2 stampede case, naming 23 accused, including actor Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management. The case relates to the deadly stampede that occurred during the film’s premiere in December 2024.

Police named the theatre management as the main accused, citing major lapses in crowd control. Allu Arjun appears as Accused No. 11 in the document.

What Happened During the Pushpa 2 Premiere

The incident took place on December 4, 2024, at Sandhya Theatre in Chikkadpally, Hyderabad. A large crowd gathered to watch the premiere and catch a glimpse of the actor.

The situation spiralled out of control. A stampede broke out inside and outside the theatre. A 35-year-old woman died, and her eight-year-old son suffered serious injuries.

The tragedy shocked the city and triggered questions about event planning and safety.

Who Are the Accused

The chargesheet lists:

  • Theatre owners and management staff
  • Members of Allu Arjun’s personal security
  • Event coordinators and private bouncers
  • The actor himself

Police said poor planning, lack of crowd segregation, and failure to follow safety protocols led to the chaos.

Police Case and Legal Action

After the incident, police registered a case at Chikkadpally police station based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family. Authorities booked the accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to negligence and endangering public life.

Police arrested Allu Arjun on December 13, 2024. He was released the next day after the High Court granted interim bail. The court later approved regular bail.

What Police Say About Responsibility

Investigators said the organisers failed to manage the crowd despite knowing the turnout would be massive. They also alleged that proper coordination with police authorities was missing.

Officials believe that the presence of the actor without adequate security planning added to the pressure inside the theatre.

Support for the Victim’s Family

After the tragedy, Allu Arjun and the makers of Pushpa 2 announced financial assistance for the victim’s family. The Telangana government also declared compensation.

The child injured in the stampede received medical treatment and survived.

What Happens Next

With the chargesheet now filed, the case will move to the next legal stage. The court will examine evidence and decide individual responsibility.

The incident has reignited debate on crowd safety during film premieres, celebrity appearances, and large public events. Authorities are expected to tighten guidelines to prevent such tragedies in the future.
