Students of Al-Falah University in Faridabad are facing a wave of fear and confusion after police linked a university professor to the Red Fort terror attack case. The arrest of the institution’s founder has added to the tension, leaving medical students unsure about their future, degrees, and job prospects. Many say the atmosphere on campus has changed overnight, and the uncertainty is affecting their studies.
A fourth-year student at the School of Medical Sciences & Research Centre told Times of India, “I hope things settle down in a few days because I believe I can be a good doctor and my parents are spending a fortune on my studies.” The student said that parents and students now discuss the situation more than classes or exams.
Students Fear Damage to Degrees and Career Prospects
According to the report, several students fear long-term damage to the college’s reputation. They worry that the institution’s name may now be linked to a terror module, especially because three professors have been identified as key members in the investigation. Many are anxious about how this association could affect internships, placements, and future opportunities.
The financial pressure is also high. An MBBS student at Al-Falah pays nearly Rs 90 lakh for the five-year course. The medical college has 200 seats, and many families take heavy loans to fund their studies. Because of this, parents have been calling the campus daily to understand the situation and possible outcomes.
NAAC Notice Adds More Concerns
Adding to the tension, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recently issued a show-cause notice to the university for displaying expired accreditation information. This has raised new questions about the institution’s transparency and administrative practices.
A student from Kashmir expressed how the situation is affecting daily life. The student told TOI, “Everyone is really worried right now because of what is going on. We are reading what is appearing in the media, trying to ignore all the anxieties and carry on with our normal routine.” Students say they try to focus on their classes, but the constant news updates make it difficult to stay calm.
Hospital Facility Once a Major Attraction
Some resident doctors said that one reason why students choose Al-Falah is that it has its own hospital, which helps them gain clinical experience early. A resident doctor, who completed her MBBS here and is doing her internship, told TOI that this was one of the biggest attractions for students.
Arrest of Assistant Professor Deepens Shock
The shock grew deeper after the arrest of Dr Umar un Nabi. He was allegedly driving the car that exploded outside Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, and he worked as an assistant professor at Al-Falah Medical College. Students say the news has made them question everything about their campus environment.
One intern from Faridabad, who studied as a day scholar at the university, told TOI, “If I keep thinking about everything that’s being said in the news, I won’t be able to work.” She added that she plans to study further to secure her future. “I’ll do my MD from a different university. This won’t be the only degree to showcase,” she said.
Students now hope that authorities will give clarity soon so they can continue their education without fear. For now, uncertainty remains the biggest challenge on campus.
