Badaruddin Ajmal, Chief of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has urged members of the Muslim community in Assam to refrain from train travel during the month of the Ayodhya Ram Temple inauguration to prevent “any untoward incident.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on 22 January. In the midst of the consecration of Ram Temple, PM Modi urged everyone to celebrate 22 January just like Diwali to mark the auspicious moment.
Speaking at a gathering in Assam’s Barpeta district, Ajmal’s statement comes ahead of the scheduled inauguration of the Ram temple on January 22, to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and an estimated 60,000 people.
Addressing a political campaign, Ajmal advised Muslims to stay at home from January 20 to 25. He highlighted the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) arrangements for special trains, flights, and buses to transport people to the Ram Mandir and encouraged Muslim brothers to avoid travel during this period.
Ajmal criticised the BJP, describing it as an adversary to Islamic beliefs and laws, particularly referencing their stance against ‘triple talaq.’
He accused the BJP of interfering in Islamic practices and laws, asserting that they are an enemy to the lives, pride, mosques, and modesty of Muslim women.
Ajmal, who represents the minority-dominated Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, shared the party’s intent to contest in three out of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the upcoming general elections. The AIUDF had previously aligned with the Congress party in the 2021 Assam Assembly elections but later parted ways.
Preparations for the grand Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav are underway in full swing for the event, which is expected to be attended by thousands of dignitaries and people from all sections of society.
The event has garnered significant attention, with several VVIP guests from India and abroad receiving invitations to participate in the auspicious occasion in Ayodhya.
Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Ram Lalla (infant Lord Ram) in Ayodhya will begin on January 16, a week before the main ceremony.
