After opening of emergency exit, many passengers hospitalised

In a shocking incident aboard an Asiana Airlines flight, a passenger opened an emergency exit as the aircraft was preparing to land on Friday, resulting in several individuals being hospitalised. The Airbus A321-200, carrying nearly 200 passengers, was en route to Daegu International Airport, located approximately 240 kilometres (149 miles) southeast of Seoul, on a domestic flight.

According to a spokesperson from the South Korean carrier, when the plane was approximately 200 metres (650 feet) above ground, a passenger seated near the emergency exit “manually opened the door by touching the lever.” As a consequence, some passengers experienced breathing difficulties, and a number of individuals were transported to a hospital following the safe landing. Asiana Airlines has confirmed that there were no significant injuries or sub stantial damage caused by the incident. However, South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that nine people required hospitalisation.

Asiana Airlines stated that the passenger responsible for the unauthorised opening of the emergency exit has been detained by the police and is currently being questioned to determine the motive behind their actions. Yonhap shared a brief video capturing the startling event, showcasing the forceful wind rushing through the open door while fabric seat-backs and passengers’ hair flail wildly, eliciting cries of surprise.

Additionally, another video circulating on social media depicted passengers seated in the emergency exit row adjacent to the open door, battling against powerful gusts of wind. Despite their seatbelts being securely fastened, the two male passengers can be seen grimacing as the wind buffets them, gripping the armrests tightly and attempting to shield themselves from the door.

As authorities investigate the incident, the airline industry may see an increase in security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Passengers are reminded to adhere to safety regulations and follow crew instructions to ensure the well-being of all travellers during flights.
