After Article 370 repealed in JK, 30,000 vacancies filled

Following the repeal of Article 370 in 2019, the Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, stated in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that around 30,000 vacancies have been filled in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Rai, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir has made changes to its governance, notably in the area of hiring.

“After abrogation of Article 370, large scale recruitment drive has been carried out and the government of Jammu and Kashmir has filled 29,295 vacancies. Recruiting agencies have advertised 7,924 vacancies and examinations in respect of 2,504 vacancies have been conducted,” he said in response to a written question.

The identification of openings in the government and hiring are continuing processes that are carried out as part of an accelerated hiring drive, according to the minister. He claims that the government of Jammu and Kashmir has implemented numerous self-employment programmes through various departments in an effort to reduce unemployment. These include offering subsidised loans for the creation of long-term sources of income.

According to the findings of the National Sample Survey Office’s Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), estimates of the unemployment rate for educated young in Jammu & Kashmir between April and June 2021 are not currently available. However, the minister stated that the estimate of the unemployment rate for people between the ages of 15 and 29 in Jammu and Kashmir from the PLFS performed between July 2020 and June 2021 was 18.3%.
