Bollywood Actors Alok Nath and Shreyas Talpade, who promoted the Human Welfare Credit Cooperative Society as brand ambassadors, have been booked  in a cheating case along with 11 others. As per the Haryana police the FIR  has been registered at Murthal police station of Sonipat district on the complaint of a Sonipat resident, Vipul Antil alleging that the society duped investors of crores of rupees.

As per the police complaint the society, registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Society Act, 2002, had been operating in several states, including Haryana, since 2016. He alleged that the society offered fixed deposit and other investment schemes with promises of high returns. The actors endorsed the society, encouraging people to invest their money.  The society reportedly organized seminars in luxury hotels across Haryana to attract investors. It claimed to have over 250 offices in the state, with its head office in Mahendragarh. Initially, investors received returns and incentives, but by 2023, payments were delayed, and the society’s offices shut down.

Antil and his brother Amit invested ₹4.33 crore in the scheme, borrowing money from family members and relatives. Now, they are unable to recover their funds as the society’s owners have gone untraceable.  According to the police officers associated with the investigation, 13 people, including the actors and key society members, have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Those named include Narender Negi, who operated the society from Indore, and Samir Aggarwal, who is based in Dubai. The accused are currently unreachable, but investigations are ongoing, the police said.
