‘Abki Bar, 400 Paar’ campaign a mere fantasy of BJP: Tharoor

Member of Parliament and CWC member Shashi Tharoor has termed the “Abki bar 400 Paar” campaign a mere fantasy of the incumbent Bhartiya Janta Party led Central government. Addressing a press conference, Tharoor asserted that the support for BJP is diminishing even in its traditional bastions, as evidenced by reduced voter turnout and engagement. He dismissed the BJP’s ambitious “Abki Bar, 400 Paar” campaign as mere fantasy, contrasting it with the palpable desire for change he has observed during his nationwide campaign tours.
Reflecting on the 2019 elections, Tharoor remarked that the Pulwama tragedy shifted the focus from economic issues to national security, which played to the BJP’s advantage. However, he asserted that the current political climate and the trends observed in the initial phases of the elections suggest that replicating the 2019 results would be impossible for the BJP.
“We are witnessing significant improvements over the last election in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and even Uttar Pradesh. The situation in Bihar, Bengal, and some areas of Gujarat indicates a tough battle for the BJP. Our self-confidence is soaring,” said Tharoor. He emphasized that the core objective of this election is to bring about a change in the government at the center.
Tharoor pointed out the growing disillusionment among the electorate with the Modi government’s unfulfilled promises over the past decade. He assured that the Congress party is diligently addressing both national and local issues, fostering anticipation for favorable outcomes. Keeping in mind the voting on seven seats in Delhi on May 25, Congress is bolstering its support
in the city.

Anil Bhardwaj, Chairman Communications Department of Congress said, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a public meeting for North East Delhi’s Congress candidate, Kanhaiya Kumar, and a Town Hall for North West Delhi’s candidate, Udit Raj, focusing on the Mahila Vichar-Vimarsh (Maha Lakshmi Nyay Yojna).
Furthermore, Bhardwaj criticized BJP for failing to deliver on its promises to provide ownership rights to residents of unauthorized colonies and in-situ flats for slum dwellers. He accused the Modi government of stalling the regularization process initiated by the Congress for 1,731 unauthorized colonies, leaving only a fraction of the 8 lakh registered residents with conversion deeds.
