Abhay Singh Responds to Claims of ‘IIT Baba’ Being Ousted from Mahakumbh Mela Ashram

Abhay Singh, an IIT graduate who quit a high-paying aerospace career for spirituality, has reacted to reports that he went missing from the Juna Akhara’s ashram during the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Singh, who is known for making spiritual concepts simple, dismissed reports of his disappearance and said he was asked to leave the 16 Madi Ashram at night. He said the Akhara’s operators were worried about his increasing popularity and suspected that he might reveal something about them, so they started spreading rumors that he had gone for secret meditation. Singh also tackled allegations from other prophets, including accusations that his mental health had been compromised by constant media interactions and that he consumed drugs. He countered these claims, saying, “They should know more than me to give me a certificate.

Refuting claims that he was a disciple of seer Someshwar Puri, Singh said, “I had already told him there is no guru-disciple relationship between us. Now that I’ve become famous, he’s made himself my guru.”

Singh, born in Haryana, said three years ago, he stayed in Canada, where he made Rs. 3 lakh per month. He suffered from depression, and so without much ado, he dropped his promising career and out came a deep quest for meaning in life.
