Abhay Chautala writes to CM Khattar regarding SYL dispute

INLD MLA Abhay Chautala has sent a letter to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) dispute between Haryana and Punjab. In this, he has asked the CM to call an all-party meeting and a special session of the Assembly to resolve this issue. He also stated that Haryana is united on this issue, and this message should also be given to the neighbouring state.

He added that an all-party delegation should immediately request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene on the SYL issue. Abhay Chautala has advocated calling an all-party meeting and deliberating on various aspects, and important steps to resolve the SYL issue. “Haryana needs to be united regarding the issue of SYL which has always been important for Haryana. To convey this message, the Chief Minister of Haryana should immediately call a special session of the Assembly. Through this session, a strong message can be given to the neighbouring state of Punjab and the Central Government regarding the construction of the canal,” he said.

Abhay has also mentioned in the letter about October 4th when the Supreme Court made sharp remarks against the Punjab government for not constructing the canal. “From this, it appears that the Punjab Government is disobeying the orders of the Supreme Court. In such a situation, it is important that Haryana takes advice from legal experts in this matter,” he said.

Abhay Chautala added that Punjab has been creating obstacles for 18 years regarding SYL. “The Supreme Court had ordered on 10 November 2016 that the canal should be constructed under the supervision of the Central Government, but it could not be completed due to the Punjab Government. Punjab is continuously disobeying the orders of the Supreme Court, in such a situation it has now become necessary that the government should seriously advocate the facts in the Supreme Court regarding this issue,” he added.
