AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, representing Uttam Nagar, was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch on Saturday, November 30, in connection with an extortion case filed last year.
The arrest follows the release of an alleged audio clip by BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, in which Balyan is reportedly heard discussing extortion with gangster Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu. The clip reportedly involves a conversation about demanding money from a businessman.
This development comes amidst heightened political tensions, as AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal was recently attacked during a padyatra in Delhi, where an unidentified man threw a liquid substance at him. The AAP has accused the BJP of being behind the incident.
Naresh Balyan’s arrest marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tussle between the AAP and BJP in Delhi’s political landscape.
