AAP and Congress hold second round of talks on seat sharing

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a key member of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, led by Arvind Kejriwal, and the Congress Party convened in New Delhi for the second consecutive time on January 12, 2024, at the residence of Mukul Wasnik to deliberate on the sharing of seats for the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid mentioned, “A decision regarding seat-sharing is still pending.”
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress held a second meeting in New Delhi on January 12 to discuss seat-sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the absence of the AAP national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab Chief Minister Baghwant Mann, although AAP Rajya Sabha MPs Sandeep Pathak and Raghav Chadda, along with Delhi cabinet ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, attended the meeting.
The meeting was held to discuss seat-searing between the two parties for the states of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, and Goa, which have 7, 13, 10, 26, and 2 seats, respectively; however, it is yet to be announced in public how many seats Congress and AAP will fight for against the BJP.
Although sources aware of the matter said the Aam Adami party wants to contest four out of seven seats in Delhi, leaving three seats for Congress, the grand old party wants four seats in Delhi.
Following the meeting, senior congressman Salman Khurshid said, “We will keep talking till we finally agree. We are constantly in touch with TMC. There is no rift with TMC whatsoever. We are pleased with all partners in the I.N.D.I.A. alliance.”
Reacting to the searing question, Khurshid said, “I wish I knew.
If I knew, I would have told you.
But I don’t know because the talks are still on and meetings will continue till we reach the final decision on seat-sharing.”
