“A matter of investigation…”: Nishad party Chief Sanjay Nishad on Mukhtar Ansari’s death

Amid opposition criticism of the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the death of gangster Mukhtar Ansari, Uttar Pradesh minister and Nishad Party Chief Sanjay Nishad has stated that the opposition is lacking substantive issues and is therefore making a big deal out of everything.

Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari passed away at Banda Medical College Hospital in Uttar Pradesh after suffering a cardiac arrest on Thursday night.

In an interview with ANI, Nishad party Chief Sanjay Nishad stated, “In this era, the public is the judge, and they make the decisions. People should exercise patience until the investigation is completed and the final postmortem reports are released.”

Regarding the opposition’s criticism of the UP government over the gangster’s death, Nishad commented, “Politics often involves trading accusations. The opposition lacks substantial issues, so they tend to sensationalize whatever they can. The primary concerns in the country should be economic growth, upliftment of marginalized communities, and restoring India’s status as a global leader and a ‘golden bird’ once again.”

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav stated that a government “that fails to protect lives has no right to remain in power.”

In a series of posts on social media, the former chief minister stated, “It is the government’s foremost responsibility to safeguard every individual’s life under all circumstances and in all places. The death of a captive or prisoner under any suspicious circumstances undermines public trust in the judicial system.”

“All such suspicious cases should be investigated under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge. The government’s practice of bypassing the judicial process and resorting to other methods is entirely unlawful,” he added.

“A government that cannot ensure the protection of life has no legitimacy to continue in power. Uttar Pradesh is currently experiencing the peak of ‘government anarchy.’ This represents a ‘zero hour’ for law and order in UP,” he emphasized.

The deceased Mukhtar Ansari’s son claimed that his father was given “poison” in his food.

“Now the entire nation is aware… Two days ago, I tried to meet him, but I was denied access… We have previously and are now reiterating our allegation of poisoning. On March 19, he was poisoned during dinner. We will approach the judiciary; we have complete faith in it…” Umar Ansari stated.
