In a significant move, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij has directed the verification of certificates for 800 conductors appointed through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN). The directive comes amid allegations of fake certificates being used for securing jobs in Haryana Roadways. The issue surfaced after complaints alleged that over 800 candidates used forged experience letters to land conductor positions. Acting promptly, Vij instructed all General Managers (GMs) of Haryana Roadways depots to conduct a thorough verification of the documents and submit detailed reports.
To expedite the process, depot GMs have formed committees to scrutinize the certificates of the newly appointed conductors. The investigation has revealed that many of these candidates were employed temporarily during the 2018 Haryana Roadways employees’ strike. During the strike, the government enlisted these individuals to manage public transport services, offering them temporary roles as conductors.
Interestingly, these individuals were not only paid for their services but were also issued experience letters, which have now become the subject of scrutiny. The experience certificates were allegedly used by many to secure permanent positions through HKRN.
The verification process will cross-check the certificates against records from the strike period, focusing on remuneration and services rendered by the candidates. Minister Vij emphasized that any discrepancies or cases of fraudulent documentation will face strict action. The probe also extends to those who have recently joined as conductors in various depots, ensuring that the recruitment process maintains transparency and integrity.
