On the 79th Independence Day, the United States extended wishes to India, expressing their ‘historic relationship’ with the nation and pledging cooperation to address the contemporary challenges.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “On behalf of the United States, I extend our congratulations and warm wishes to the people of India as they celebrate their Independence Day on August 15.”

He further stated that India and the US share the same vision of peace, prosperity, and securing the Indo-Pacific region. “The historic relationship between the world’s largest democracy and the world’s oldest democracy is consequential and far-reaching,” he said. ‘Our two countries are united by our shared vision for a more peaceful, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific region. Our partnership spans industries, promotes innovation, pushes the boundaries of critical and emerging technologies, and extends into space.”

On the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartful wishes to the nation with patriotic fervor. India got its independence from 200 years of British rule in 1947.
