On the night of August 15, 1947, ‘Bharat’ finally saw the light of freedom and got its independence from 200 years of British rule. Every year, India celebrates this day to honor and remember the courageous freedom fighters and leaders of pre-independence struggle.

Freedom fighters and leaders like Mahatma Gandhi (known to be the ‘Father of The Nation’), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhas Chandra Bose, ‘Shaheed-e-Azam’ Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, BR Ambedkar are only a handful of names among hundreds of nation’s sons who lived and died for the country.

These leaders were nothing short of superheroes. They didn’t have any super-suits or mysterious weapons but they were filled with faith, strength, patriotism, and a vision of free India. The stories of their courage and valor send shivers down the spine till date. They are the reason why we walk, eat and live freely today.

This year will mark the 79th year of  free nation, and just like the previous ones, citizens from all over India will participate in various activities. Schools will hold functions, communities will hold their festivities, the red Fort will be decorated with chants of a ‘free’ and ‘powerful’ country. But most importantly, the entire nation will host the national flag, ‘Tiranga‘.
