79th Independence Day: Operation Sindoor Flag Soars Over Red Fort

During the 79th Independence Day, PM Modi hoisted the national flag at Red Fort, with helicopters honouring Operation Sindoor, a tribute to India’s successful strike on terror camps in Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam attack.

On the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi for the 12th consecutive year. Two Mi-17 helicopters passed over the ramparts, one showering flower petals while another one carrying the Operation Sindoor flag, as the tricolour fluttered in the air. Wing Commanders Vinay Poonia and Aditya Jaiswal piloted the aircraft. 

It was to honour the success of India's responsive strike to Pakistan after the horrific Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, Operation Sindoor. The mission targeted terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The brave Indian forces hit nine terror camps in Pakistan. killing over 100 terrorists and 13 Pakistan military installations and airbases.

During the celebrations, the Gyanpath viewing area was decorated with floral arrangements and the logo of Operation Sindoor. 

The theme of this Independence Day is 'Naya Bharat', showcasing the government's vision to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The day's events began as PM Modi paid respects at Rajghat before arriving at the Red Fort. He was welcomed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior military officials. Flying Officer Rashika Sharma assisted him in hoisting of the national flag. 

Around 5,000 special guests, including sportspersons, outstanding farmers, entrepreneurs, authors, and youth achievers, were invited to the ceremony.
